Greetings from the University of Denver Office of Student Engagement! I want to be the first to tell you how delighted I am of your child's interest in our fraternity and sorority community. There are many advantages to joining a fraternal organization. First and foremost, joining fraternity and sorority life is a lifelong commitment to a values-based organization designed to enhance both their collegiate and post-graduate experience through philanthropic, scholastic, and networking opportunities, as well as the opportunity to make lifelong friendships.
The University of Denver fraternity and sorority community is a part of the Office of Student Engagement which is housed within the Division of Student Life. It prides itself on upholding the four pillars of fraternity and sorority life; scholarship, leadership, friendship, and service. The programming provided for our community is based upon these four pillars. Our executive councils and community are extremely active. Over the past year, they have sponsored a speaker to discuss staying safe from sexual violence, recognized the accomplishments of the community, and completed many hours of community service for the greater Denver community, just to name a few. Additionally, there are many leadership opportunities in which our fraternity and sorority students can take part. Not only are there multiple opportunities within their chapter, but the Executive Councils and the Office of Student Engagement hold Greek 101, a retreat for new members in the Fall quarter after recruitment, while Fraternity & Sorority Leadership Retreat is held during the Winter quarter to welcome and train our incoming fraternity and sorority leaders, and sent members of our community to many national leadership conferences. Our fraternity and sorority students are an influential force at the University of Denver and are present in our major student organizations, including the All Undergraduate Student Association and the University of Denver Programs Board. I am assured that your student will take advantage of the many opportunities available.
I hope that this website is helpful to you and answers your questions, but if you should ever have any questions or concerns regarding your students experience at the University of Denver, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting you in the future.
